How it works

Four steps, at your pace. You decide how much to share and what happens next.

  1. Reach out privately

Use a device the other person has never had access to, if you can. Tell me as much or as little as you want. A first name and a safe way to reach you are enough to start.

  2. A short, confidential conversation

We talk through what you've noticed and decide together what to check. If your safety may be at risk, we plan before anything changes.

  3. The examination

In person, or remote where that works. I explain what I'm doing as I do it. Your data stays yours. I don't keep copies of your files or messages, and I tell you exactly what I do keep.

  4. Cleanup and lockdown

I remove what doesn't belong, secure every account, and walk you through what I found in plain language. You keep a written summary.

A note on safety

If the person you’re worried about might hurt you, removing monitoring software can alert them that you know. Before you change anything on your phone or accounts, it can help to talk with an advocate about a safety plan. The National Domestic Violence Hotline can help: call 1-800-799-7233 or text START to 88788. I’m glad to work alongside your advocate, and we’ll time any changes around your plan.
